The Dignity Initiative

 Debbie Weinstock, PhD.

The Dignity Initiative is a social entrepreneurship dedicated to the advancement of human dignity through programs that improve our communications with one another, educate and sensitize people about the role dignity and dignity violations play in our lives and relationships, and introduce a higher level of civility, respect and harmony to our families, schools, law enforcement and communities.

In every facet of society, we see flagrant violations of human dignity that have left our political system, our faith in law enforcement, our schools, families and communities in a dangerous state of upheaval and dysfunction. We are all vulnerable to the destructive effects of violations to our dignity… and accepting that fact is the first step in turning things around.

There has never been a more urgent need for all people to start learning how to treat each other with dignity. To honor a person’s dignity is to truly listen to what they have to say, to understand who they are and how they feel and treat them as if they really matter. The violation of a person’s dignity is an assault on his or her worth as a person that elicits a mix of destructive emotions including shame, anger, depression and hopelessness.

At the Dignity Initiative, we vow to work tirelessly to bring dignity, hope and a brighter tomorrow to all people everywhere.

“Never look down on anybody unless you’re helping them up.”
